Why a blog?

I want to reach out and help as many people as possible to achieve their full potential and to be happy with the life they lead.
My goal is to become the strongest, happiest version of myself that I can be, and to inspire YOU to do the same.
I will give open and honest accounts of my day to day life, how I deal with the different stages of my son growing up, how I overcome the unecessary pressures I am guilty of putting on myself, how I maintain a healthy lifestyle without a gym membership or a great deal of time, and hopefully give an entertaining account of my life as a mum and a wife.
Put simply I want this to be a place of interaction between other like minded people who want to be part of a positive community.
So who am I anyway?
My name is Joanne and I am 29 years old. I live in South Yorkshire with my husband Tony, our 8 month old son Charlie and our Spring Spaniel called Alan. I am currently on a career break, taking a year to be a full time mum. I am hugely passionate about fitness and health, I hold a qualification in Fitness Instructing and I manage to maintain my fitness without a gym membership or a lot of time.
I wasn’t always in to fitness, far from it, I hated it! I was overweight, lacked confidence and tried many different things to achieve the body I wanted, and failed miserably every time. Until two years ago when I dedicated myself to the Insanity workout, completing it 3 times through and losing 2 and a half stone (15kg). That sparked a love of fitness and a love of living life in a confident and fulfilling way, which I now try to maintain while on my journey through motherhood.
So why am I telling you this, why should you care? Well in short, you don’t have to care, but without telling you about myself I would have nothing to share, and you would find it very hard to relate to me.
The more I become passionate about making the most of life, the more I want to share my experiences and help others to do the same.

    1. Hi thanks for visiting my blog. It’s nice to hear you are planning on using your blog to document your health journey, it’s a great way of keeping yourself accountable.
My tips for people starting out would be to take it slowly if you want it to be maintainable. I know that groups like weight watchers and slimming world can have people losing pounds and pounds in just a few weeks but not many people stick to those programmes long term. I’d say that losing just 0.5 to 1 pound per week would be something to be proud of. Maybe keep a food diary for the next 7 days and then look at where you are going wrong and what you could improve on. Make sure you don’t deprive yourself of things you enjoy. I LOVE pop tarts and chocolate so I always eat one or two naughty treats a day, as long as the rest is healthy. Do you workout or would you be able to find time to? I used to work out 4 or 5 times a week before having Charlie but now I have to be more realistic and it’s more like 2 or 3 times. If you want more advice feel free to let me know and I’ll do all I can to help. I’m currently studying a nutrition advisor course so it would be good practice for me πŸ™‚ soon I’m also going to be uploading blogs every time I complete a module on my course, to help my revision and also so that readers can get some tips from it πŸ™‚ I’ll look forward to watching your progress x

      1. Thank you so much for all your information and tips.. A food diary sounds like a very good idea. I will start doing that 😊 maybe when I have done my food diary for a week I can share it with you if you have time for it to look at it of course! Anyway this is already very helpful xx

      2. Yes I’ll definitely have a look at it for you πŸ™‚ I never did anything like that when I first started out and I think it would have been useful. I started to keep one now so that I can make sure I’m eating enough whole foods like fruit and veg, I can get carried away with processed stuff πŸ™Š xx
